ACT DESPITE OF
- Posted by COACH RYAN V
This
is what successful people do. While those who fail have lots of excuses but
they just did not act. If this is a success formula, why then are there lots of
people who don’t act?
1.)
FEAR AND PAST FAILURES. A man named Thomas Edison failed almost 1,000 times
before he succeeded in creating the light bulb. When asked how he felt about
the failures he simply said “Well, I have not failed, I succeeded in learning
999 ways not to make a light bulb”. For most people past failures are what
stops them from taking action today. I know a lot of people like this. Some of
them are even close friends and family. Some of them are even business owners
(businesses that have not taken off). They have dreams but because their past
experiences were very painful, they fail to act on those dreams. They fear
their past failure will happen again. They hate it when they have to get out of
what’s comfortable and secure. They better stay put and wait for grace than
act. A lot of them always love a free lunch. There they go asking for free
advices so and so. But when the time comes to act they halt themselves and say,
“Oh no, I knew this was something I experienced in the past”. Well, if you’re
one of these people, look at your results. What has this fear brought you? If
you’re looking for people to do business with, do you think they will want to
transact with those who are foolish not to act and are full of doubts? I know I
won’t partner with somebody like that.
2.) OTHER PEOPLE’S OPINIONS. They often listen to what their friends
say, their relatives, their mothers, etc. Most of the time, the people they
listen to are skeptics warning them of an impending failure.I have something to
say to you if you listen to opinions –
GROW UP. People who listen to opinions hate rejection so what they do is follow
what others say. Most of the time, the opinion givers are people dear and
important to us. My mom and sister told me that it was a bad idea that I quit
my job and do business full time. My sister even went further to cite examples
of people she personally knew whose businesses fail. Had I listened to my mom
and sister (they are people who are very important to me) perhaps I would still
be grinding everyday for somebody else's business. It’s not because you love
somebody that you should listen to their opinions. These people mean well but
they do not understand your dreams AND THEY DON'T WANT YOUR DREAMS AS BAD AS
YOU DO. Opinions are the cheapest commodities on earth – do you want to listen
to what’s CHEAP? If you listen to cheap opinions and follow them, then you are
also CHEAP.
So if
you want to be successful all you gotta do is ACT and ACT DESPITE of anything.
