What's the future coming at you?
- Posted by COACH KRISTINE

Have
you ever asked yourself this question? If you have and you were able to answer
it clearly, I salute you. Seeing a future coming at you is being clear with who
you are as a person and what you are as a stand for in this world. It gives you
a clear sense of direction and meaning to the things that you are doing at the
present. If you have read my previous entries, you would remember my mention of
the “old formula.” I remember in college my need to graduate with honors
because it would make my resume stand out among thousands of ratrace hopefuls.
Studying became more meaningful because I saw a brighter future in the
corporate world bearing that title.
Now,
as an employee, the future that I see is me retiring young and retiring rich
with the new family that I, with my future husband are going to start. This
picture gives me power as an individual and as a part of a community. Cliché as
it is, I just have to say this - we should all begin with the end in mind.
However, aligning this vision with your present actions is easier said than
done. In my 4 years in the rat race, I can sense the lack of foresight for most
people. Living from paycheck to paycheck is not bad. It provides the funds one
needs to sustain a family but for how long they intend to do this, no one
knows. If you ask an employee, he would most likely say that he’ll go into a
business after retirement or would pursue his true passion someday. Isn’t now a
better time to plan an exit strategy? Now, this is another topic which may be
contemplated in another entry. For this new year entry, I’m wishing everyone
the power of clarity and foresight. It may just be what you need to start the
year right.
